Mick Foley was meant to be involved in Backlash. His relationship with WWE is turbulent lately, with Triple H getting in Vince’s ear saying they shouldn’t do anything with Foley and then Brian Gerwitz coming along to say they should push him. Foley has creative control and can turn down anything he doesn’t approve of, though ultimately anything he does do has to go through Vince first.

Hot on the heels of his ECW fascination, Vince McMahon reportedly has more interest in Smackdown that at any time in recent years. This is being attributed to Michael Hayes, Smackdown’s lead writer, having a great deal of influence backstage. Meltzer describes it as “almost a Pat Patterson like business relationship with Vince.” Also, expect Chris Masters to get a renewed push soon, at the behest of Vince.

Steve Austin was negative about the Ford Field in a recent appearance on the Mark Madden radio show. According to the Observer, he said the sound went to the roof instead of outwards so nobody could tell if the fans liked the matches or not. Austin also said he would love to work a program with Ken Kennedy in three or four years, or do a long program with Shawn Michaels. He also put over John Cena and Finlay.
