George Clooney and Grant Heslov, his Smoke House partner, are all set to co-write a dramatic comedy entitles Escape From Tehran for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film centers around a dangerous project back in 1979 involving the CIA and Hollywood. The CIA got together with filmmakers in Hollywood and staged a fake movie project in order to smuggle a handful of Americans out of Tehran during a hostage situation.

Warner Bros. also has the film rights now to an article in “Wired” magazine by Joshuah Berman about the real-life story of the hostage situation. Warner then set the film up with Clooney and Heslov’s Smoke House to produce.

Along with the fake movie project; fake advertisements and press coverage was used and written by such sites as Variety and Hollywood Reporter to make the entire thing seem more real. Finally putting the plan into action, a CIA operative mastering in disguises went and rescued the Americans saying they needed to pretend to be Canadians on a scouting trip for a Hollywood big budget film.
