More on WWE Title Scene and The Condemned

News

As you may have figured out, the original plan for Judgement Day was indeed to have a Hell in the Cell rematch between Batista and The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Title. The most likely option for Smackdown, according to yesterday’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, appeared to have been a feud between Batista and Ken Kennedy, with perhaps Batista chasing the title. Kennedy was to have been kept out of the title scene and do very few jobs until getting a title shot at WrestleMania 24 but prior to his injury, the feeling was that this plan would have changed unless someone was moved from Raw.

The Observer also reported that John Cena vs Shawn Michaels is still slated to happen at an upcoming PPV. It might wind up being a Hell in the Cell match. Michael Hayes, Pat Patterson and Arn Anderson all worked on the finish to the four-way WWE Championship match at Backlash.

Meanwhile, Vince McMahon had decided long ago that he would win the ECW title as his character’s comeback after getting his head shaved. Vince was also far more involved with the making of The Condemned than initially thought, especially when it came to rewriting the script.
