In 1982, Carol Anne scared the hell out of all of us by being sucked into a television set and then her brother being attacked by a huge tree. Throw in a muddy pool full of live skeletons and a guy ripping his face off, and there you have the classic horror film Poltergeist. Many sequels were made including a few direct-to-video ones and just never gave us the same feeling we got with the original.
Well low and behold, they are trying again.
Michael Grais who wrote Poltergeist and co-wrote Poltergeist II: The Other Side is rumored to be back and working on writing the script for a new film going into theatres.
Poltergiest: In The Shadows is said to be in the early stages of development and there is no real info known at this time on the plot or who may be starring in it. The only thing known is that it will not be a direct-to-DVD release as MGM has been doing a lot of lately, and it will have a run in theatres to see if the franchise has anything left in it for the box office.
