Line-up for ROH’s Debut PPV & More Notes

News

Pulse Glazer and Big Andy Mac have written reviews from this weekend’s Ring of Honor shows, including the big pay-per-view taping from Saturday night in NYC, and they can be accessed by clicking on the “Ring of Honor” link to the right of this page. On a personal note, the excitement in the building on Saturday was unlike anything I’ve experienced at a live wrestling show in quite some time, and talking with Cary, Syd, Mike and others involved behind-the-scenes with ROH, you could tell that everyone was very excited (if not anxious) both heading into the show and then as the sold-out event wrapped up. It will be very interesting to see how the show comes across on TV, and it’s safe to say that the majority of people involved was very happy with a successful night.

ROHWrestling.com has posted the official line-up for the July 1 “Respect Is Earned” PPV, which includes several matches that taped this past Saturday at the Manhattan Center in New York City:

“Respect Is Earned”

Also from ROH’s Web site, Claudio Castagnoli has been given the opportunity to select a partner of his choosing to face World Tag Team Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe at the June 9 Philadelphia show, and will be picking his former partner Chris Hero. The match will be 2/3 falls, and should be interesting from a storyline perspective.

In other ROH news, ROHVideos.com has added Nigel McGuinness vs. TJ Perkins from last February’s “Fifth Year Festival: Philly” show as well as “women of honor” matches featuring Lacey and Sara Del Rey that will never be released on DVD.

Speaking of McGuinnesss, Pro Wrestling Insider has reported that he has a herniated disc and a separated shoulder.

According to WrestlingObserver.com, the second ROH PPV will be taped on June 23 in Chicago to air on September 1. The show will be headlined by KENTA vs. Bryan Danielson and Mark & Jay Briscoe vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico.

Finally, Homicide’s appearance at Saturday’s NYC show took place with TNA’s blessing, according to PWInsider. Homicide gave a farewell speech to the NY crowd in a segment that will not be released on DVD or PPV. According to the wrestling news site, ROH would have been granted similar permission from TNA to use Austin Aries in that manner, but for now they have chosen not to.
