Nu Image’s Millennium Films and Emmett Furla Films are going to bring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro onscreen together for just the second time in history in a $60 million indie film entitled Righteous Kill.

The duo will play cops chasing a serial killer, but not much else is known about the plot. Shooting begins August 6 in Connecticut directed by Jon Avnet (Up Close & Personal). The script is written by Russell Gewirtz who also penned Inside Man.

One Nu Image’s top men Randall Emmett said “They’re friends, and this really all got started from that,” when asked how the two stars are coming to work together.

Other Nu Image executive Avi Lerner continued, “this is an event in world history. They were in two scenes in Heat. In this movie, they are in the whole thing together.

More to come on this groundbreaking project as we get it.
