From the land of uncreativity comes another remake. This time it is of the 1981 action drama Taps which shot Sean Penn, Tom Cruise, and Timothy Hutton’s careers into stardom. Frank E. Flowers (Haven) will write the script and is looking to direct with John Davis producing and Robbie Brenner as executive producer.

In the original military drama, a construction crew is coming in to tear down a military academy and pave the land over for a new series of condos. A group of cadets very loyal to their school seize control of the academy and stop the deconstruction.

Flowers has his reasons for remaking the film at this time. “The political climate and the psyche of the country make it an exciting time to tell the story. When you are at war, kids are forced to make decisions normally reserved for adults, like fighting for your country and standing up for what you believe in.
