A TF review written exclusively for Inside Pulse by Rikkomba

I don’t know much about this item, I don’t know its origins or its purpose. In my humble opinion, it’s an alien artifact created to destroy us all.
I hate humans, so I HAD to get it! By the way, this is an Alpha Trion review. Enjoy!

The search for Alpha Trion

Being a minicon collector, I have my bad moments. Last bad moment arrived when, after spending a little fortune to get a TFCC Astrotrain, I discovered that some nasty guy made another TF exclusive that included a minicon!

Sadness and disbelief took control, leaving control in a few seconds to let me solve the situation through ebay’s search engine. Fast forward a couple weeks, and here we are. Alpha Trion’s first review ever, here on InsidePulse.com !

Very “fruity” looking…

Alpha Trion finally got its own toy! Ok, it’s a Vector Prime repaint with a remolded head. Ok, it’s Cybertron Vector Prime, whose wings and sword are made or awful rubber, which in my case was kindly bent from the seller itself. Ok, it’s Cybertron Vector Prime with a remolded head that looks a little too small for the body’s bulkiness. Ok, it’s Cybertron Vector Prime with a new head and a new paint scheme, including a better overall detailing, more similar to Galaxy Force’s Vector Prime’s quality.
Ok, it’s Cybertron Vector Prime with better detailing, a new head and “fruit jelly-like” colors, but who cares? It’s just Alpha Trion, and its robot mode represents the character’s solemnity and respectful appearance very well.

Alpha Trion’s sword comes in purple rubber, with the infamous “banana effect” Vector Prime owners know very well.
Its cyber key got all golden this time, losing lots of molded details.

Electronic gimmicks were removed from this version: if you can’t sleep because of this, you can always transplant the electronic parts from any Cybertron Vector Prime to our friendly neighbourhood A3 (if you really lost any hope to date anybody, of course). I don’t really care, but it’s another loss of value. After the stupid use of rubber, I mean. Did I say that using rubber for such a TF is stupid? Just in case.

I wonder what his minicon is called? Elita-1?

I have no clue about this minicon’s name, so I will call it Jenna, here displayed with Tera from Micron Booster 69.

In robot mode Jenna shows a good use of golden detailing, combining it with A3’s typical colors.

I think this is the best version of this little nebulan-wannabe. In weapon mode it’s perhaps missing some detailing on the gun’s barrel, but it’s not a big deal. I don’t even consider it as a triple changer, because in my own little world a certain “winged weapon mode” doesn’t resemble anything in particular.

X-Dimension Vector Prime IN USA NEW! RARE! C11!

In vehicle mode A3 is very appealing to the eye, or to my eyes, at least.

Rubber wings make miracles to destroy this mode’s awesomeness, with some great results. With all that purple A3 could easily be mistaken for a Decepticon. How exciting! Yawn.
Transformation scheme, as you already know, is at basic level. The new, remolded head’s disguise is neither better nor worse now, and fists are as prominent and evident and unconcealed as ever.

In my case, not only all 4 wings got bent even before shipping the toy to my address, but one of them has some problems rotaing, so that I can’t open the left pair of wings at 180 degrees. Even my Cybertron Galaxy Force Vector Prime (sigh) has this same issue, and it’s also made of stupid rubber.

Of course, his Awesomeness Galaxy Force Vector Prime is free from any of these stupid problems: no rubber to be found. There’s a reason if I am not taking into consideration Cybertron Vector Prime, guess why.

That’s just silly. Alpha Trion doesn’t transform.

As TF toys go, I think it was time to get an Alpha Trion transformable toy. It would have been nice to see an original mold and not a slight variation, but that’s life.

What’s really a downside it’s this toy’s (almost certainly) limited release: Alpha Trion should be a TFCC or, more likely, BotCon 2007 attendee exclusive, but nothing is known at the moment. I think that many old time fans would like to have an A3 toy in their collections, but we’ll have to see how many people will fulfill this wish. Toywise, I don’t think somebody would be losing much without this TF, but it’s Alpha Trion, and it’s maybe a more important character than Primus itself. As for me, I just pray they will stop making exclusives including any minicon, I am suffering enough with Japanese Lucky Draws! Sigh.

I could give this toy, for what it represents, a full 10, but I have to consider the awful use of rubber parts and the removal of the electronic component. I am very pissed off about this missed chance of delivering a great TF toy, it happened countless times already, it’s not funny at all.

On Elohim’s Energon scale, I give Alpha Trion 7 out of 10 cubes.

Take care,

Rikkomba
