A few of horror-master Wes Craven’s films have already gotten the remake treatment with some success, so it seems only right that his first film should get the same. The Last House On The Left now may have the writer and director to make it all happen.

Craven will be producing the film for Rogue under his Midnight Pictures company. One of Craven’s producing partners, Sean S. Cunningham also produced the original film released in 1972. Adam Alleca is on board to write the script for the remake while Dennis Iliadis (Hardcore) will direct.

The original told the story of a group of sadistic murderers on the run after brutally raping and killing some teenagers. Unknowingly they hole up in a house with one of their victim’s parents who plan to exact their revenge after finding out what the men have done.

Craven has said that Iliadis has approached him about remaking The People Under The Stairs, but that one hasn’t been touched yet. Craven is remaking a lot of his earlier films because he has more ownership control over them and also figures “why not?

Production is expected to begin on Last House early next year.
