Donovan Leaving UF For Orlando Magic

Billy Donovan had once been rumored to replace Tubby Smith after he left the University Of Kentucky and head up to the University of Minnesota, but Donovan said the University Of Florida is where he’d stay. Seems his mind has changed.

Waiting for UF to finalize his new seven-year deal agreed upon weeks ago, the Orlando Magic have now offered Donovan their head coaching position and he is expected to take it so says the Orlando Sentinel. The deal is said to be worth around $6 million annually and that proves to be too much for him to pass up.

Donovan’s new deal at UF was to pay him $3 million the first year and rise annually as according to the contract. As of yesterday, he said he had not yet spoken to the Magic about the position.

The Magic head coaching position became available when they removed Brian Hill after two losing seasons a first-round sweep in this year’s playoffs.
