Dynamite USA Breaks Record & Other Notes

Josh Gross at Sherdog.com is reporting that, according to the California State Athletic Commission, the June 2 K1 Dynamite USA event drew 42,757 to the Los Angeles Coliseum which has a capacity of around 100,000. This number more than doubled the attendance record for an MMA show in North America, previously held by the March 3, 2007 UFC event at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH (19,079). The reported paid gate was $2,545,590 and of the 75,332 tickets printed, 13,600 were given away.

The Brock Lesnar vs. Kim Min-soo, Royce Gracie vs. Kazushi Sakuraba, Yoon Dong Sik vs. Melvin Mahoef and Johnnie Morton vs. Bernard Ackah fights from June 2 are being replayed at 9pm ET this Saturday on Showtime, leading into the Antonio Tarver boxing match.

In other Showtime/EliteXC news, according to Dave Meltzer at WrestlingObserver.com, Frank Shamrock will be training with Dan Henderson in Southern California over the next week to prepare for his June 22 fight vs. Phil Baroni. The bout will take place in San Jose and air on Showtime PPV.
