David Goyer (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible) has been put in place to write and direct The Invisible Man for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. Brian Grazer is going to produce this “new take” on the H.G. Wells vintage story.

Considered a sequel in some aspects to Wells’ original story, the focus is now on the British nephew of the original Invisible Man. He discovers his uncle’s secret formula for invisibility, and is then quickly recruited by the British intelligence agency MI5 during World War II.

No release date or cast is set, but Goyer felt that the time was right. “I’ve always been a fan of the original H.G. Wells book as well as the Universal film and felt the property was ripe for reimagining.
