Random Reality – Josh Clinton Interviews Christian Okoye of Pirate Master

Interviews, Shows

Josh Clinton: Hey Christian.

Christian Okoye: How you doing Josh?

JC: I’m good. How about you?

CO: I’m doing good as well.

JC: Great. Did your football experience help you on Pirate Master at all?

CO: I think so. For football, we always had to stay in shape. So that helped me prepare for the rigors of being on the boat and the physical aspects of the show.

JC: Right. Did the others on the show know about your football background?

CO: No, not really. No one really asked me and I didn’t come out and tell anybody.

JC: So no one had any idea that you played in the NFL?

CO: No. There were some who thought that I might have played football, but they never asked me and I didn’t tell them.

JC: Do you think that it would have hurt you more on the show if they did know?

CO: I wasn’t sure. It probably would have, though. Usually on these shows if they know you are a doctor or have an advantage over other people, you get picked off right away. It’s all about the money on these shows. I wasn’t prepared to hide it from anyone. If they would have asked me, I would have told them.

JC: Right. We saw on the show that you had a friendship with Louie. Can you explain more about the relationship with him?

CO: Louie is a great guy. He’s very likable. When I met him we kinda bonded and became good friends. He’s just a great guy. He’s always in a happy mood and smiling all the time. There’s not a whole lot to not like about him.

JC: Do you think you will be friends with him away from this show?

CO: Definitely. I think we will continue to stay friends off of this show.

JC: Cool. So you were only on the show for a few episodes, but you were mostly quiet on the show. Any reason for that?

CO: No, there was no reason for that. I did talk, but most of it wasn’t aired. But I’m not a talkative person, so it was easier for the people that did talk a lot to get shown more.

JC: Right. Why do you think your mutiny plan didn’t work?

CO: Well mutiny can only work if all of the crew members agree to it. If one person says no, then it doesn’t work. Everyone else is trying to save themselves as well and they don’t want to come out and go against the captain and make themselves a target.

JC: Right. Did you know that Jay was on Joe Don’s payroll before it was revealed?

CO: No, I didn’t know that at all. Jay is a bad snake. I no idea he was doing that before it was revealed, though.

JC: Why did you bump heads with Joe Don on the show?

CO: Well it really was misguided. I thought it was all Joe Don, but later I found out that it was all Jay. It wasn’t Joe Don’s fault. It was all Jay.

JC: So do you think Joe Don is good captain and leader then?

CO: Joe Don can be a good leader, but there are some things I disagree with. But he can be a good leader in telling everyone what they need to be doing on the ship. I think I could have made a better captain, though.

JC: Right. We also saw that Joy escaped elimination again this week. Why do you think she is still around when she is prone to injury and all of that?

CO: Joy is such a joy. Everyone loves her and loves to be around her. She is always happy and makes everyone around her happy. So when have a person like that everyone tends to want to keep you around to make everyone else happy.

JC: Yeah, that makes sense. Well Christian thanks for your time.

CO: Thank you very much Josh.

Sir Linksalot: Pirate Master

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
