ROH Report: 6/22/07 in Dayton, Ohio

Houseshows, Reviews, Shows

Just quick results to keep you updated before the Pay Per View, which, again, I’ll be attending and coverring for the Pulse, so check back tomorrow for that. Credit to all results for the Dayton show goes to the ROH board.

Match 1: Kevin Steen and El Generico defeat Irish Airborne (Pin, Package Piledriver and brainbuster)

Said to be a fun match. Steen and Generico improve every time out. Hopefully Irish Airborne were impressive enough to get more bookings as an undercard tag team.

Match 2: Gauntlet Match: Chris Hero defeats (in order of elimination) Delirious, Adam Pearce, Jimmy Rave, and Pelle Primeau

I was looking forward to a super-heel confrontation between Hero and Rave that didn’t occur. So much for Rave’s title shot tonight at the PPV. Not likely after a loss.

Match 3: Brent Albright defeats BJ Whitmer (Pin, Exploder counter through a table)

This was said to be a very good, violent brawl. Albright just might be ready for the top of the card. Whitmer snapped and attacked Mitch Franklin after the match.

Aries is sitting front row.

Match 4: Roderick Strong and Davey Richards defeat Erick Stevens and Matt Cross (Pin, Gibson Driver)

This is notable for Roddy’s post match promo on Aries who just left. I’m guessing Aries will be back full time at the Pay Per View.

Match 5: Lacey defeats Serena Deeb (Pin, Implant DDT)

Match 6: KENTA defeats Rocky Romero (Pin, Go to Sleep)

Davey Richards turned on KENTA pre-match and post match KENTA received a beating from the NRC. Delirious and Resilience made the save. This match was said to have lived up to high expectations.

Match 7: Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness defeat Takeshi Morishima and Naomichi Marufuji (Pin, Jawbreaker Lariat)

Said to be match of the night, surprising precisely no one. Nigel getting the pin on the champ is huge because he needed a victory after falling to both Morishima and Danielson recently. I’m really looking forward to this on DVD.

Match 8: ROH Tag Title 2/3 Falls: The Briscoes defeat Matt Sydal and Claudio Castagnoli in straight falls

Mark got both falls here, the first with a moonsault on Sydal and the second with a cutthroat driver on Claudio. Sounds fun and that’s the show. Stay tuned early tomorrow for my full live review of ROH’s second PPV taping from Chicago.
