Kevin Bacon danced the forbidden dance steps over twenty years ago and now Paramount feels it is time to revisit them, as a musical.
The studio is looking to take the 1984 film Footloose and remake it entirely as a musical. Kenny Ortega will direct and choreograph while Dylan Sellers will produce.
Zac Efron (High School Musical) is currently in talks to play the lead role of Ren McCormack which was played by Bacon in the original. Footloose tells the story of a rebellious teen, McCormack, who comes to a new town where dancing is banned from all functions. He just can’t stop his feet from moving and aims to get the rest of the kids in town to join him.
No word on a release date, but we’ll get you more as we do.
