Johnny Depp will soon don the fangs and step what would seem to be not far out of his normal realm.

Warner Bros. has teamed up with Depp’s Infinitum-Nihil and Graham King’s GK Films to create a feature-length film based on Dark Shadows. Shadows was a daytime supernatural soap opera back in the sixties.

The show had filmed over 1, 225 episodes and was considered a spooky soap with a lot of creepy atmosphere. It included such horror icons as vampires, monsters, ghosts, zombies, werewolves, and witches. Some TV specials and possible films have been attempted over the years but none ever getting someone the star quality of Depp.

Depp and King are going to produce the film with David Kennedy. Kennedy ran Dan Curtis Productions until Curtis died of a brain tumor last year. Curtis was the producer and director that created Dark Shadows. Depp has said before that he was always obsessed with the series when he was younger and had dreamed of being Barnabas Collins (originally played by Jonathan Frid), the vampire patriarch on the show.
