Kevin Garnett Is Headed To Boston

In a trade that has been rumored since long before the draft, a done deal was finally made on Tuesday. Kevin Garnett will be introduced this evening at a 5:30 PM EST press conference as the newest Boston Celtic.

The Celtics get Garnett who will be signing a three-year contract extension that will keep him Boston for quite some time. He had two years remaining on his current contract with an option to opt out after the 2008 season. The Timberwolves will get Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, and a pair of 2009 first-round picks.

Garnett was originally said to not want the trade to Boston to happen and would have vetoed it. This will automatically make the Celtics favorites for a playoff push at least in the weak Eastern Conference. Garnett will join a line-up with newly acquired guard Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.
