Former Champ Wants Another WWE Run, Jimmy Rave Update & More

There is an article on former WWF and WCW Champion Sid Eudy (a.k.a. Sycho Sid, Sid Vicious or Sid Justice) in the Ottawa Sun. He’ll be wrestling in Ottawa on August 24, but wants another WWE run. “This business needs me as bad as I need the business … I’ve got a helluva gimmick that’s guaranteed to make them money. It would be the greatest comeback in not just wrestling, but in sports history. Nobody has ever come back from a compound fracture two inches above the ankle.”

– As a follow up to an earlier story that Jimmy Rave was released from his ROH contract, according to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, “There has been some conjecture by fans that Rave’s departure is part of a work-shoot Internet angle being produced by the company. That isn’t the case.” The catalyst for the release, according to Johnson, had something to do with Rave suffering an ear injury at the recent Long Island show, demanding to see ROH officials while the show was still happening, and — according to Johnson’s sources — telling two different top ROH officials that he wanted a release. There are rumors of him being unhappy backstage recently, so if that’s true, it probably didn’t help.

– According to an article on Ohio.com, Booker T says he was fine with his move from Smackdown to RAW, but he probably would have resigned if he was drafted to ECW.

– PWInsider.com and WrestlingObserver.com have both reported that Jonathan Coachman was hired to be a host and reporter for MSG Network’s MSG, NY sports/entertainment magazine show.

– Other talent with ties to WWE that have new TV gigs: former WWE Diva Lauren Jones’ reality show Anchor Woman (Fox) premieres on August 22, and former WWE World Tag Team Champion Matt Anoa’i (Rosey/Ro-Z) will be a part of Fat March (ABC), premiering August 6. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Nielsen had a glitch in its reporting equipment that led to USA getting lower-than-usual ratings this past week, including for RAW.

– Cable trade magazine Multichannel News has reported on WWE’s dip in non-Wrestlemania PPV buys for the last quarter.

Christy Hemme has posted her latest column, in which she talks about her wrestling career, new album, and what seems like a recent issue in her love life.

– Finally, according to PWInsider.com, the “unknown wrestler” during Tuesday’s Smackdown taping was former WWE Hardcore Champion Johnny “The Bull” Stamboli.
