#365 – Passionately Unemployed (Labia Majora)

For the last six months and heading into Season 3, Bette and Tina have been working things out and preparing for domesticity with their child Angelica. Tina’s the birth parent and Bette looks to be legally recognized as the other parent by legally adopting her. Legality can be a pain, though as Bette and Tina are visited by Roberta Collie, who works for the State. Roberta isn’t all that pleasant and hates when baby Angelica makes noises. Tina hasn’t worked since the part of the timeline before the series and Bette’s been unemployed since the end of Season 2 (six months prior in terms of storyline). When Roberta asks Bette about this, Bette informs her that she’s holding out for just the right job that allows her to still be part of the Art World, which is her passion. Roberta lists this as, “passionately unemployed.” The conversatoin is not going well and things only get worse as a pilled out of her mind Alice arrives, accidentally ramming her car into Roberta’s outside. Alice walks in, cussing up a storm in front of the baby, to the bemusement of Roberta. The bemusement is even moreso when Alice tells her that she’s the Earth Mother (as opposed to Godmother since Alice is an athiest). Needless to say, the first impression for Bette’s chances aren’t too good.

#364 – Subpoena (Lead, Follow Or Get Out Of The Way)

Walking along the beach near her home, Helena tries calling Dylan. She hasn’t heard from her today and is beginning to worry. She leaves a message for her to call back then hangs up, only for the explanation of Dylan’s lack of speech to come crashing into her. A man shows up with a large vanilla envelope. He gives the envelope to Helena and leaves. Helena opens the contents to discover a subpoena. Her affair with Dylan appears to have been a trap as Helena is now hit with a Sexual Harrassment lawsuit from both Dylan and her boyfriend, Danny.

#363 – Dana Fires Conrad (L’Ennui)

Dana has just sacrificed a loving relationship with Lara for the sake of her career and the fear of coming out. But also because her agent, Conrad Voynow made it clear that Dana’s new sponsor, Subaru wanted her to portray herself as straight. After finishing up a photo shoot where she practices on the tennis court, Dana is told by the Subaru representatives that they want to make her the, “gay Anna Kournikova.” Conrad appears dumbfounded by this, but then readily agrees that this is a good thing. With Lara gone and for now, apparently not coming back, Dana accepts the promotional idea…and fires Conrad. Conrad thinks she’s joking, but she isn’t. Dana reemphasizes that Conrad is fired and walks off.

#362 – Bette Vs. Yolanda, Part 1 (Listen Up)

Dan Foxworthy’s group therapy is quite the experience for Bette and Tina as they’re introduced to a myriad of characters who are all dealing with their own issues. Among them are Oscar and Alma, who will befriend Tina during this time. Also among them is a pregnant lady by the name of Yolanda Watkins. As everyone lies on the floor in a relaxation conversation excercise, Bette and Tina talk about their concerns of upcoming parenthood, causing Yolanda to chime in. Yolanda concludes that Bette can’t be sure about anything since she continues to deny being black. Bette’s character is biracial and feels offended by Yolanda for suggesting that she only accept the black part of her heritage, leading to a heated discussion about identity. As the discussion begins to escalate into a full scale argument, Dan Foxworthy lets them know that time for this session is up and they can continue the chat on the next session.

#361 – Peggy Rules (Lacuna)

Helena’s been something of antagonist lately, since her relationship with Tina became an, “open relationship.” Looking to take subtle digs at Bette in front of Tina and having a general display of arrogance when faced with both Tina and Bette hasn’t helped matters. Another problem Helena has had involves her and Winnie’s children, Wilson and Jun Ying, keeping them for longer periods of time than she’s allowed. Helena arrives for dinner at a restaurant where the children and Helena’s mother, Peggy await. Also at the table is Winnie, prompting Helena to turn around for the exit. Peggy however demands that she comes to the table and Helena reluctantly obliges. Peggy lays down the rules, as Winnie is now going to be moved into a better living location and the children will get to spend more time with Winnie, much to Helena’s chagrin. For someone used to having her way, this is a rather humbling experience for Helena.
