News on Two Possible New Wrestling Promotions & More

Archive

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hulk Hogan hasn’t done much press for the new season of Hogan Knows Best, and even though many media outlets wanted to speak with him, Hogan felt all questions would be about the Benoit family tragedy. In other news, Hogan is working on starting up a new touring promotion, with Eric Bischoff helping him seek out funding.

Dave Meltzer has also reported that there’s a new promotion headed by Steven Mills of London, England, called World Allied Sports that is claiming to have a deal with Ion. A TV taping originally scheduled for this week was moved to September 22 in Hidalgo, with Jon Heidenreich, Vito, Shane Twins (Gymini), Heartbreakers (Heart Throbs), D-Lo Brown, Orlando Jordan, Ro-Z, Matt Morgan (doing it even though he’s now working with TNA), Rob Conway and Rikishi to participate. Chris Cruise and Larry Zbyszko are doing the announcing, Larry Zbysko and Gary Hart are booking, and Ricky Morton and JJ Dillon will be agents. Apparently, tapes from the old WXO will be used on TV first, leading into the new footage. (UPDATE: We received a note from a potentially reliable source telling us that “D’Lo is falsely being advertised for this show. He will be in Virginia that weekend for Hermie Sandler.(sic)” Sadler’s Web site does indeed list Brown as appearing on a September 22 show.)

Completely unrelated, Misawa recently said on a Japenese talk show that he’ll be appearing at a Ring of Honor show in November. The rumor that Meltzer is reporting (and not finalized or announced by Noah or ROH) is that he could be defending his GHC title at a ROH show.
