Countdown To The L Word Season 5 – Top 400 Moments #345-341

Shows

Today in the Countdown, we have friends that aren’t friends, a party with a guest appearance, shoes that don’t quite fit, a nanny on the prowl and the morning after a party. It’s moments #345-341 in the Top 400 Moments of The L Word!

#345 – We’re Not Friends (Loud & Proud)

Mark’s been in the doghouse since it was discovered he had hidden cameras all over the house. The one being the hardest on him has been Jenny. He’s tried to talk and express his sorrow and deep down, he hopes to redeem himself, something Jenny couldn’t care less about seeing happen. He’s agreed to move out and is in the midst of packing up. He walks in and sees Jenny in the home alone. He leaves the key on the kitchen table and Jenny, possibly wanting things to work out tells him that he’s done, “this terrible thing.” And now he’s just running away from it, something Jenny doesn’t want him to do. She makes it clear that he should stay and ride out the storm if he’s serious about redemption, to which Mark picks up his key and goes back to his studio room outside. But before he goes, Jenny reminds him, “We’re not friends.”

#344 – To Shane (Left Hand Of The Goddess)

Shane’s bachelor party is full of toasts and warm wishes, mainly from Alice and Jenny on behalf of the Group Of Friends. The idea of raising a family is brought up and showing signs of what Shane would be teased with in Season 4 (this is at the end of Season 3, remember), Shane considers that that might not be such a bad thing. Shane hints at wanting Bette and Tina to work out their issues and everyone finds it hard to believe that Shane may actually wind up being married tomorrow. To cap off the festivities, Alice presents Shane with a gift from her bride-to-be, Carmen in the form of rap duo, God-des & She. The duo proceed to perform their very provocative song, “Lick It,” which causes some blushing jaws to drop from the lyrics. But everyone has a good time. The icing on the cake here involves Helena covering up her mother, Peggy’s ears from all the salty language.

#343 – Size 9 (Layup)

The Group Of Friends have gathered at a shoe store inside a mall to gather their gear for the upcoming basketball game against Papi’s crew. Varoius subplots are touched upon, most notably Jenny’s game of deception with Stacy & Lindsay which has begun in earnest. Earlier, Jenny had picked up a sick dog from a veterinarian center and now smells like the dog itself. Nobody knows why and Jenny, wanting to keep things secret explains that she’s just been busy outside. The main issue here however involves Kit refusing to believe her feet size is above single digits. Swearing up and down that she’s a Size 9 for sneakers, that’s the pair she chooses, despite it being painfully…painfully obvious that she’s probably at least a 10 and a half. Kit grimmaces and forces her feet into the shoes, determined to prove that she can wear a Size 9.

#342 – She Is So Fired (Lez Girls)

The affair has begun between Angus and Hazel, Angelica’s babysitter. Arriving at Henry’s home in Henry’s car, Henry and Tina hide in the bushes as they see Kit’s boyfriend engaged in a passionate kiss on the front porch with Hazel. The first reaction from Tina is, “She is so fired.” Tina realizes that this could be a major problem and time will tell just how right she is.

#341 – End Of The Yacht Party (L’Ennui)

The AlShaDane Trio (Alice, Dana & Shane) are the last three remaining on Harry Samchuk’s yacht that Shane was allowed to borrow for a party that’s now ending. Everyone has either gone home or gone elsewhere, but at this point, it’s just the three of them. Dana, feeling a mix of seasickness and hungover, pukes into the water below. Alice and Shane just want her to let it all out. Dana’s had a rough 24 hours, having broken up with Lara out of fear of having her career jeopardized while trying to stay in the closet and at the party, she’s let herself go as a result. Alice and Dana gather together under a blanket while Shane paces around. Bette and Tina’s early departure from the party is brought up and it’s, “so boring,” to leave so early. Shane starts to consider otherwise that maybe it’s not so bad to be able to have something of a guarantee in life, involving being able to feel the love and warmth of the same person for so long. It’s a subtle hint at Shane’s subconscious battling with her nature, which is that of being a player. The inner conflict of the moment almost causes her to choke up, leading her to walk across the edge of the yacht. The sheer thrill of the unknown of whether or not she’ll fall brings the smile back to her face.
