Notes on Edge, Trump, WWE Firing & More

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Edge’s injury was worse than feared. His pec was torn completely off the bone, but his surgery was successful and he should be back around December.

In other news, Donald Trump isn’t on the cover of the Wrestlemania DVD. This was part of his contract; he can be used in video promotion with footage from the event, and his name can be on the DVD, but not his likeness. Trump insisted on this, as he didn’t want to necessarily be associated with the event long after it aired.

Rene Dupree was fired on 7/26. He had “made the wrong enemies” and got a rep for being cocky. Plus he had a painkiller problem, and while there was talk of bringing him back, the higher-ups didn’t think he had changed after being talked with.

Vince is reportedly “on the warpath” blaming RAW writers for the ratings, the week after the errant 2.5 came out.

OVW is doing a new show on TV each week, taped Thursdays at the Davis Arena in Louisville, featuring wrestlers that don’t appear on the main show.
