Richly Deserved: On The Lot Episode 15

Shows

First off, it’s time to see who the final three is. Adrianna Costa read the good and bad news. They are Will Bigham, Adam Stein, and Jason Epperson. Sam’s journey ends but says the journey was invaluable and he realizes he wants to direct.

The three are asked to choose the two films that most define them as a director. The grand prize will be awarded next week.

After introducing us to Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall, they showed each director’s road to the final three, it was decision time.

Adrianna asks them each a question. Blah blah blah.

Now it’s time to show the films.

Jason is first. “Eternal Waters” was his first choice. The film tells the eerie story of a mother, still grieving the recent loss of her child, discovering an intruder in her house (credit, Fox, because I don’t have time to describe these myself). It’s a really dark short that I just couldn’t really like.

“Sweet” is the second film. With 15 minutes to spare, a man realizes it’s his wedding anniversary prior to his wife coming home from work. He battles time to get her a gift before she comes home, while being a great Samaritan in the process. Some comedy, some drama, some action. I enjoyed this one a lot more.

Gary loved them. He says Jason shows people as they want to be.

Will is next. His first film is “Glass Eye”, a witty and twisted comedy about a man’s adventure around his house, attempting to retrieve his glass eye. A little disturbing for a guy who refuses to even wear contacts. Nonetheless some great slapstick. Loved it.

His second film is “The Yes Men”, the story of a tyrant boss, who attempts to make light of waking in a dress by addressing his staff of employees with an ultimatum. The boss in a dress is a nice touch. A weird comedy that I thought went a little overboard. Carrie complimented him.

Finally, Adam is up. His first film is “Dough: The Musical”, a freshly baked musical comedy that delivers the goods, taking place at the local bakery. Can’t help but smile at this one. Cheesy but colorful. Very enjoyable.

The second short is “Army Guy” is a brilliantly bizarre tale of a soldier trapped in a very strange world. Strange is definitely the way to describe this one. Or maybe surreal. Too surreal for me. Carrie says her films are inventive and funny.

Next week, we see who gets the $1 million contract. Adam and Will both impressed me. I’m choosing Will. How about you?
