TORONTO – Although Canadian Stephanie Dubois didn’t upset Rogers Cup #6 seed Nadia Petrova today, she didn’t seem to be upset at the result.

“I think I played a really good first set,” Dubois said at a post-match press conference. “She’s a really good player. She really stepped up in the second set and third set, and she was playing much better.”

If there was any doubt that the Quebec native belonged in the tournament after her comeback win yesterday against Japan’s Ai Sugiyama (6-7, 6-4, 7-5), Dubois erased it by winning the first set tiebreak against Petrova (7-6).

“I think it shows that I have a place here in the big tournament,” she said.

As has been the customary answer in Toronto’s marquee tennis tournament, just like almost every player before her, Dubois said that she did not change her strategy going into the match.

“I think I went on the court, like I said, it’s another match, another day, another person,” she said. “But you really have to focus on yourself.”
