Smackdown Preview for August 17, 2007 & Preemptions

Preview: WrestleMania Rematch on tap
August 17, 2007

This Friday on SmackDown, World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali will face Kane in a rematch from their epic WrestleMania 23 encounter. When these two behemoths first collided in Detroit last April, The Great Khali was able to defeat the Big Red Monster. It was competition that the Punjabi warrior had demanded in the weeks building toward WrestleMania, and this Friday night, he will face that same challenge once again, though this time as a champion. Can The Great Khali Claw a 7-foot monster like Kane, or will the first WWE Superstar ever to bodyslam the giant pull off another shocking feat, and defeat the World Heavyweight Champion?

Due to Montel Vontavious Porter’s recent diagnosis and treatment for a heart condition, both the United States Champion and Matt Hardy were permitted to choose a surrogate for their upcoming boxing match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Not one to back out of any challenge, Matt chose himself; however, in response to Hardy’s selection, MVP chose four-time Heavyweight Champion of the World, Evander Holyfield. With no boxing training whatsoever, against one of the greatest champions in boxing’s storied history, has Matt Hardy been dealt a strategical TKO well before his fight takes place at Saturday Night’s Main Event, or even before SmackDown this Friday?

Find out the answers to these questions and more on Friday Night SmackDown, 8/7 CT, only on The CW Network.
