Kurt Sutter (The Shield) has teamed with Warner Independent Pictures and is set to remake Bruce Lee’s iconic Enter The Dragon.

Sutter is writing the film and this will also make his feature film directorial debut. The renamed Awaken The Dragon will be produced by Fred Weintraub, John Wells, and Paul Heller.

The original film was released in 1973 and made Lee a martial arts star around the world. Lee played the role of Lee, a martial artist drafted by law enforcement to participate in a martial arts tournament. It is also his job to secretly infiltrate a drug smuggling operation that is underway on the tournament hosts heavily guarded island.

Sutter’s version will be modernized of course and about a lone FBI agent who is on the tail of a rogue Shaolin monk. He follows him closely into the grueling world of underground martial arts fight clubs.

No-one has been cast yet but Sutter hopes to get a martial arts star for the role of the monk and an established American star as the agent.
