Here Come the International Invaders: 2nd Stage – Revenge of the Clone Menace
Hellertown, PA

Thanks to Jon Kirschner for sending this in!

Match 1: ShaneSaw (Shane Storm and Jigsaw) -vs- The Olsen Twins

From what I saw, this seemed like your average fun CHIKARA Tag Team Match. There was good action, good comedy, and a fine ending. Shane Storm finished them off with the Air Raid Crash.

Match 2: Brodie Lee –vs- Tim Donst

HOLY COW this match was BRUTAL! I don’t wanna say this was a squash because the fans were really behind Donst the whole match. But, Donst took the worst beating I’ve seen in a Live Ring. This was a great match that just made Brodie a monster from the start. Donst did a good job selling a knee injury he got while tangled in the ropes. Lee ended the match with two Sitout Powerbombs. Lee should be back in CHIKARA for the next event because the crowd absolutely ate it up. Donst left to a huge applause. I said it in the “Maximum Overdraft” review and I’ll say it here again, Donst is improving more and more every time I see him.

Match 3: Ultramantis Black –vs- Soldier Ant

Soldier Ant came out with a hard-hat helmet on his head and a military jacket awesome. At the start of the match, it seems as if Mantis put a spell on Soldier Ant where Soldier obeys Mantis’ every command. Right when Mantis thought was going to explain to us what had happened, Soldier snapped out of it and gave him an armdrag. Fire Ant was a GREAT manager, hopping around like crazy on the outside whenever Soldier Ant got an offensive move in. Soldier Ant wins with a TKO. I was expecting a bit-less outta these two, but they had a great match.

Match 4: Mitch Ryder –vs- Hallowicked

Mitch Ryder is hilarious. I’m gonna pick up the DVD mainly because of how funny this guy is. Slow start with Ryder goes through all the text-book moves (shoulder tackle, armdrag, hiptoss). It picked up a bit in the middle but nothing really fantastic. The finish saw Ryder knocking out Wicked with a chain while the referee wasn’t looking.

Match 5: PAC –vs- Claudio Castagnoli

I thought the loose ropes would set this match back a bit, boy was I wrong. These two put on a phenomenal match full of stiff uppercuts from Claudio and crazy corkscrew flippy moves from PAC. Toss up for Match of the Night. Claudio dominated early with PAC getting momentum in the middle. I walked into the match 100% sure Claudio was going to win, but near the end I wasn’t so sure about that anymore. It was when Claudio hit the Ricola Bomb after reversing a rana that I knew I was right. If you like PAC or Claudio, be sure to grab the DVD. Fantastic match.

Quick Intermission Note- The ropes were really loose throughout the 1st half of the show.

Match 6: Chris Hero –vs- Brute

Great Big-Man match. These two went at it early, spilling to the outside. Hero knocked Brute into the wall a couple times hoping for a countout win, but to no avail. Crowd thought it was over when Hero gave a nice looking Cravate Suplex to Brute from the second rope, but Brute’s “Powerfull Kid” powers gave him the strength to kickout. The win went to Hero after a Double Stomp.

Match 7: Lince Dorado –vs- Shayne Hawke

This match was average. Lince’s cat-gimmick gets me every time. When he had Hawke in a standing-armbar, he was rubbing his head against the hand forcing Hawke to pet him. Besides that though, it was an average match. Hawke distracts the referee and out comes Mitch Ryder who gives Dorado a Piledriver giving Hawke the win. Mitch Ryder comes in and does his whole “Immigration” Gimmick and says that 9/22/2007 will be the return of CHIKARA’s Cibernetico Match! (8 –vs- 8 matchup where there can only be one man standing. If there are 2 people from the same team remaining they have to duke it out to see who gets the title as “Cibernetico Winner”.) Hawke acts like a little kid in a candy store when he finds out he is the first to join Mitch Ryder’s team.

Match 8: (For the NWA Junior Heavyweight Title) Mike Quackenbush © -vs- Akira Raijin

Mike Quackenbush was, once again, in non-stop Grin Mode. I don’t think there was a time when I looked at him w/o him grinning. This was my other choice for Match of the Night. These two set themselves apart from the whole show wrestling a very Puro-style match. Quack goes over with the Lighting Lock Delta. If you like Mike Quackenbush, pick up the DVD.

Match 9: Los Chivas –vs- Team FIST

Ever since Team FIST’s match with the Briscoe Brothers at “Maximum Overdraft” I’ve grown a liking toward Icarus. Los Chivas had a lot of fun goofing off a lot during the match, but it was pretty much total domination from FIST. They hit a sick spot on one of the Chivas where Icarus gave him a German-Suplex, and then Akuma gave him a German-Suplex and whipped him into Icarus who gave him a nice-looking Gore. Akuma had the 3-Count near the end of the match, then Icarus pulled him off. Icarus gave one of the Chivas a horrible looking Pedigree and tried to pin him, only to be pulled off by Akuma. Team FIST just started KILLING Los Chivas in a contest to see who could kick more ass.. “Referee” Bryce Remsburg disqualified them for excessive beating.

Match 10: (For the Young Lions Cup) Chuck Taylor © -vs- Ricochet

If Ricochet loses, he can never wrestle in a CHIKARA ring again. I’ve heard these guys have faced off countless times on the Indy-Circuit, but this is only my 3rd time seeing them against each other, and it is always awesome. Chuck Taylor had no little kids to scare! He tried yelling at a kid, but the kid just smiled. The crowd was all about this match and really behind Ricochet. Ricochet blocked the Awful Waffle and that got a big pop. Ricochet got Taylor in a rollup, but Taylor reversed it into a rollup of his own. Then, Ricochet’s CHIKARA career flashed before his eyes just as his man-hood did. Because Chuck Taylor socked him below the belt while Remsburg was counting the three. Looks like people need to get access to the “CHIKARA Podcast A-Go-Go” because no one knew it the stipulation and no “Please Don’t Go” chants were started.

Card Rating- 8/10. CHIKARA has been on a roll as of late. This is one of those “Gotta Have” DVD’s if you are a part of the CHIKARArmy.
