Richly Deserved: On The Lot, Finale

Shows

The final three arrive by limo. Over 13 weeks, Adam Stein, Jason Epperson, and Will Bigham have had their creativity pushed to the limit. Dreamworks awaits.

Now like any reality finale, it’s an hour show for a one-minute announcement. The finalists and judges are introduced and everyone looks great (Jason’s backwards cap fits right in, strangely). The other eliminated finalists are also in attendance.

We are then taken through a season recap. We are shown a whirlwind of good and bad. Clip after clip, elimination after elimination, we saw why Adam, Jason, and Will stood above the crowd. Clashes with the judges and the actors heated the competition up. But in the end, we’re left with three great talents.

Next a chat with some of the fallen. Zach is looking forward to the future. Martin had a rocky ride but enjoyed the experience. Shira-Lee felt she has grown as a filmmaker. Hollywood is waiting, guys. They go to commercial with everybody’s favourite, outtakes!

We find out the theme song is nominated for an Emmy. Then the finalists are asked which films the others made were the best. Adam chose Zach Lipovsky’s “Die Hardly Working” and we were treated to an encore of same (it was about a make-believe war between two bored co-workers).

Will chose Hilary Weisman Graham’s “Under The Gun”. Then we are shown some of the wit and wisdom of Carrie and Garry.

Jason’s pick was Mateen Kemet’s “Catch” which he did for action week and featured some awesome stunt work and a great plot.

Next we got a feature on the actors that we saw week after week. Every one of them were very excited about the opportunity to see these aspiring directors at work. They felt they grew as actors as well.

Now it’s time for the real business at hand. One of these three directors has won a $1 million filmmaking deal with Dreamworks Pictures. Internet voting was unavailable due to a technical error. But phone and text voting produced a winner. We saw the three finalists describe their journey in their own words. We also get some final words from Carrie.

Down to the result. Adam is eliminated first. So it’s down to Jason and Will. Adam gets a standing ovation and says he is really happy to make it as far as he did.

The winner is … after the break. (I hate that.)

O.K., we’ll try again. The directors sit beside their loved ones in the audience.

THE WINNER IS … WILL BIGHAM! And I thought this was the right choice after last week’s showings. He thanks God, Jason, and everyone else down the list.

Here’s a toast to Will, Jason, and every one of the finalists who will entertain us for years to come.
