More on Benoit, Jericho, Michaels, McMahons

The 9/10 edition of National Enquirer claims that Chris Benoit had an affair with a female wrestler in Edmonton in 1986, which resulted in the woman giving birth to his daughter. Apparently Benoit never denied that the child was his and now both women are looking to claim a part of his estate.

And, just in case you were mistakenly getting your hopes up, Mark Henry did indeed sign a new WWE contract recently and has no intention of leaving in the near future.

The Wrestling Observer (click here for subscription information) notes that prior to Vince McMahon giving a commencement speech at Sacred Heart University, and then receiving an honorary doctorate, members of the faculty circulated a petition saying that he was the worst possible choice they could have made. It wasn’t enough to prevent it from going ahead. The entire deal was set up due to Linda McMahon being on the board there.

Due to the recent suspensions, injuries and firings, WWE is currently attempting on-air damage control almost as much as it is off-air. They have contacted Chris Jericho about returning but no deal has yet been struck, particularly as his agent, Barry Bloom, knows just how valuable Jericho would be to WWE right now and is holding out for a lucrative deal. They got in touch with Shawn Michaels about returning earlier than planned but it is not going to happen, though it was not clear whether or not Michaels was unable to or unwilling to come back prematurely. WWE is also said to be considering letting the worst-kept secret in the history of kayfabe out of the bag and admitting on-air that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are married to one another. No word on how or if this would tie into the current ‘Vince’s son’ storyline.
