NBA Going To Allow Video Replay For Fights

Starting this season, NBA referees will have the use of instant replay to review both altercations and some flagrant fouls. The NBA Board of Governors voted last week to have these changes approved by the league’s Competition Committee.

Only on the more severe types of flagrant fouls known as “penalty 2” will the referees be allowed to use the replay. The committee felt this was appropriate considering that flagrant-2 fouls result in ejections.

Referees will also be able to use the replay in cases of altercations and fights when things are usually missed. They can now see if punches thrown by someone were missed or other unsportsmanlike actions (such as leaving the bench) were not seen by them during the time of the occurrence.
