Associated Press Changes Poll

Appalachian State’s upset win over Michigan continues to shake the very foundation of college football.

For the first time in the 71 year history of the Associated Press Poll, lower Division schools are eligible for the poll.

The AP decided to make the change because schools that show they can compete with big-time teams on the field should have a chance to be recognized with them in the Top 25 according to AP Sports Editor Terry Taylor.

The change came not only from the upset, but more from the response of voters who wanted to put the Mountaineers into their polls, some merely as a symbolic gesture. No D1AA team is ever going to rise to number 1, but its nice to know they can be recognized.
