The Ben Stiller directed comedy Tropic Thunder lost one of the regulars, and picked up a not-so-regular.

Matthew McConaughey is stepping into the role that was once occupied by Owen Wilson. Wilson bowed out of the film after he was hospitalized at the end of August in what was an apparent suicide.

Tropic Thunder tells the story about a group of friends who gather on a remote island and get ready to shoot a big budget war movie. Soon after though, they are forced to play their war roles in real life.

McConaughey will join Stiller, Jack Black, Nick Nolte, Robert Downey Jr., Bill Hader, and Steve Coogan in the film which is scheduled to open July 11.
