The Pitch: Chuck Bartowski is a 25 year-old who can’t leave college and his ex-girlfriend behind. He’s content with a job at Best Buy and a barely existent social life, much to his sister’s chagrin. Then he gets an e-mail from his old college buddy, tranferring every government secret directly into Chuck’s brain…
Sounds like: Alias meets Get Smart
What I Liked: Zachary Levi is a really good Chuck. And the push-and-pull tug-of-war between agents John Casey (Adam Baldwin, Serenity) and Sarah (Yvonne Strzechowski) over their new “secret weapon” should be interesting
What I Didn’t Like: Chuck’s best friend Morgan might take some getting used to…
The Verdict: On-par with Reaper as the coolest freshmen in the Class of 2007. There’s a lot to like about Chuck, but more than anything its fun. I really wish it wasn’t opposite How I Met Your Mother: why must two “awesome” shows be on at the same time, when there is still so much cr*p out there?
Whether it succeeds or not is a tough call: NBC gave us the two best new shows of 2006 (30 Rock and Friday Night Lights), and they’re just barely hanging on. Here’s hoping Chuck sticks around
