Roy Williams Fined for Breaking Roy Williams Rule

Dallas Cowboys Strong Saftey Roy Williams was fined 12,500 dollars this week for his horse collar tackle on Bears Tight End Desmond Clark last week.

The play occurred with under a minute left in the first half, when Clark caught a short pass over the middle and turned upfield when Williams committed the illegal tackle from behind.

The rule that prohibits horse collar tackles is often referred to as the Roy Williams rule, because it’s widely believed he cause 4 injuries in 2004 while using that technique.
