2007/2008 TV Season Ratings Report – Week 1 (9/24/07 – 9/30/07)

We are back for another TV season. Premiere week went down last week and the week pretty much started us off the same way we did last year. Three networks battled for the spot, but only one would take home #1 for the first week of the season. As for the top shows of the week, that list looks just about the same as well. The order looks a little different, though. Find out where all the old AND new shows fell and which networks ruled this first official week of the TV season…

ABC always start off strong and this year was no different. It was able to hold off CBS and NBC pretty easily with its three “big” shows, Dancing with the Stars, Grey’s Anatomy, and Desperate Housewives. Surprisely enough, though, CSI on CBS was able to hold off all of those shows to be the most watched show of premiere week.

What also helped ABC this week was the fact that it had the most-watched new show of the year in Private Practice. Sure, it’s a spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy, but it’s still a new show. It even cracked the “top ten” this week. Besides that show, the only other new show to separate itself from the pack was Bionic Woman on NBC. Ironically enough it goes head-to-head on Wednesday nights with Private Practice. So I guess there are a lot of people watching TV during the 9 p.m. ET/PT hour that night. The rest of the new shows performed about as you expected. None made that bad of a debut that they are at risk for getting the early axe, but you never know these days. Overall, there this crop of new shows is decent enough. So hopefully they will be given time to gain an audience. Only time will tell, though.
