Thanks to Alan J. Wojcik for sending along this report…

On Tuesday October 2, 2007 Florida Championship Wrestling held their second event at Bourbon Street Night Club, 4331 US 19N in New Port Richey, FL. WWE legend Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart was among the fans enjoying the show.

(1) Johnny Curtis defeated Hade Vansen.

Early on this was a battle in ring styles, Vansen’s European against Curtis’ American. Both men went to work on the left arm but in different ways. Vansen switched his attack to the neck with a vise like hold but Curtis stuck to the left arm nearly getting a pin on a takeover. Curtis locked in a side headlock he refused to let go of even when he was being taken over to the mat. After a corner break both men shook hands but Vansen got in a sucker punch to the jaw and went on the attack with a flurry of moves including a bite to the forehead. Vansen got a bit cocky with a slap to the face which was returned in kind but Vansen took Curtis down with a neckvise hold. Curtis fought back a dropkick for two but Vansen kicked out and backed to a corner. Curtis went after him but got hit with a forearm to the face and a return to the neckvise. Curtis fought to his feet and escaped, firing in chest chops and elbows to the face. Vansen hit a running knee to the corner but Curtis was waiting for the next move and hit a suplex into a sitout slam to gain the win.

(2) In a double debut bout, Sheamus O’Shaunessey aka SOS defeated Brian Kelly.

Both men felt they had lots to prove and the talking was mixed into the action. Kelly took SOS to the mat with working over the left shoulder as SOS complained about hair and tight pulling. He evened things up with a well placed elbow to Kelly’s jaw. That opening drew a bullseye on Kelly’s jaw and throat with chokes and kicks to the damaged area. Kelly tried to fight back but SOS threw Kelly down the mat with a slam. SOS missed a corner splash and Kelly fought back with a series of moves including a corner clothesline and running bulldog for two. Kelly hit a monkey flip and for a second one but SOS held onto Kelly’s legs and stepped forward into a power bomb to get the pin.

(3) “Handsome” Heath Miller defeated Steve Lewington.

Lewington was built just like WWE legend the Dynamite Kid. Miller went right on the attack with eye gouges and forearms to the head trying to kept Lewington off balance. For a while it worked until Lewington got a vertical base and used his power. Miller tried to cut that off by working on the massive left arm of the Englishmen. Lewington freed himself with several chops to Miller’s chest and a hiptoss as he tried to loosen his left arm up. Lewington went to the second rope but when he came off miller was ready with a boot to the gut which appeared to male Lewington jam his knee on the canvas. Miller saw it and hit a chop block to the knee followed by a series of kicks to the hamstring. Miller went for the submission with a half crab plus some leverage from the ropes as the referee’s view was masked. The referee got wise and caught Miller causing a break but Miller went to a spinning toe hold but Lewington sat up for an inside cradle for two. Miller recovered and sat into the spinning toe hold but Lewington refused to submit. Lewington used his superior strength to power out of the hold and sent Miller chest first into a corner. When Miller came out Lewington hit a gutwrench suplex and a series of European style forearms but it was Miller who got the last move when he countered out of a hold and used the ropes as leverage to pin Lewington.

(4) New Generation Hart Foundation members “Stampede Kid” TJ Wilson & Ted Hart defeated “The Professional” Mike Mondo & “the Natural” Nick Nemeth.

Nemeth and Mondo talked big but screamed louder anytime Hart and Wilson locked them in a wrestling hold. Wilson took him down with a front facelock but released to snap suplex for two. Nemeth complained of a tight pull and backed Wilson to his corner to tag in Mondo but his armlock was reversed and Hart tagged in but Mondo slowed the momentum to a snail’s pace. After a handshake Mondo went for a cheap shot but Hart caught the boot and took Mondo down with an armbreaker move. Mondo got out of the hold and raked Hart’s eyes locking in a wristlock but Hart went to the ropes and countered out before tagging Wilson back in. Nemeth tagged in but missed an elbow drop that allowed Wilson to hit a Northern Lights suplex for two. Wilson went up and hit an elbow drop but the referee was distracted by Hart and Mondo. This allowed Mondo to grab Wilson and toss him to the floor out of control, smacking on the concrete. Mondo and Nemeth went to work attacking Wilson’s upper body for several minutes but they couldn’t put Wilson away. Even a double team abdominal stretch didn’t get the submission win. Wilson was able to escape and tag in a well rested Hart who tried to win the match on his own, hitting both men with a triple jump moonsault for three as Hart held onto Mondo.

(5) In a Battle of the Divas, Nattie Neidhart (w/Victoria Crawford) defeated Nicole of the Bella Twins (w/Bri).

This was a rematch of sorts from last week, but the referee kicked Crawford and Bri out of the ringside area before we began. Nicole went to work with a hiptoss but Neidhart bailed to the floor to slow things down. Neidhart jawed with the ringside fans about a 3rd Generation wrestler was better than Nicole and she was going to prove it. Nicole got the better on another exchange in the ring and Neidhart jumped into the referee’s arms but was promptly dropped to the mat. That only infuriated Neidhart who hit a knee to Nicole’s gut followed by a boot to her throat. But Nicole countered out of a slam into a rolling pin for two. Neidhart also missed an elbow drop which led to a hair pulling contest which the referee broke as Neidhart got a cheap shot to Nicole’s eyes. But Nicole countered out of a wheel barrel move into a bulldog, sending Neidhart to a corner trying to adjust her jaw. Nicole went on the offensive with a series of moves but Neidhart floated through a cross bodyblock and used the ropes for leverage.

As Neidhart was celebrating she was interrupted by fellow 3rd generation Diva Lacey Von Erich who challenged Neidhart to a match next week.

(6) New Generation Hart Foundation member Ted DiBiase Jr. defeated “the Human Massacre” Keith Walker.

While Walker jawed with ringside fans, DiBiase Jr. decided to do his talking with wrestling holds. Like an armbar into a side headlock but Walker flattened DiBiase with a shoulder tackle .DiBiase recovered and took Walker back to the mat with an armlock but Walker got free and bailed to the floor. He tried to sneak up behind DiBiase but he was spotted and DiBiase ducked, sending Walker through the ropes and to the floor again. Walker came back to the ring and promptly sent DiBiase into a doubled over position with a well placed boot. But Walker’s aggression worked against him as DiBiase avoided a corner splash and sent Walker to the floor, only to bring him back hitting a slingshot senton for two. But Walker begged off to a corner and when DiBiase came to grab him, Walker leveraged DiBiase into the turnbuckles. Walker went to a series of chokes on the ropes along with some eye gouges. Walker went for a running powerslam but DiBiase slid into the Million Dollar Dream, but Walker was able to back himself into a corner causing a break in the hold. Walker quickly hit a suplex and took over with a rear chinlock with his feet on the bottom rope. DiBiase fought to his feet but Walker sent him back down with a hand full of hair. Walker grabbed at DiBiase’s mouth as he taunted the fans. It was followed by a slingshot style move driving DiBiase’s throat into the bottom rope. Walker risked a DQ with a series of chokes but broke just in time to save himself. Walker draped DiBiase on the ropes and hit a running boot to the face which brought Billy Kidman to ringside for an unknown reason. We figured it out when he tossed DiBiase into the ring where Walker got a two count. DiBiase countered a backdrop into a spinning neckbreaker but Walker got to his feet first and hit a clothesline for two. Walker went to the mat with a chinlock but DiBiase fought to his feet and hit several punches to the jaw. DiBiase kept on the attack with chest chops and a powerslam for two. Walker countered with a Sky High Slam for two. Walker draped DiBiase on the ropes where Kidman verbally berated him. But it came back to cost Walker the match when a rope move missed, DiBiase smacked Kidman and rolled up Walker for the pin.

(7) New Generation Hart Foundation member and FCW Southern Heavyweight champion Harry Smith defeated Billy Kidman.

This was a rematch from the 9/15 event at the JCC which saw Kidman win the title but lose it on a reverse decision. Smith went to end the match early with a two count that Kidman thought was not only fast but accused Smith of using the tights. Smith and Kidman fought for position but it was Smith who hit a dropkick and a clothesline that sent Kidman over the ropes. Kidman used the ten count to his advantage and got his wind back before going back into battle. But Smith got Kidman on the mat in an armbar, sitting back in a hammerlock with his boot for leverage. Kidman refused to submit so Smith rolled him into a pin position for two. Kidman got to his feet and backed Smith to a corner where he buried a shoulder. But a corner whip resulted in Smith hitting a clothesline and taking Kidman down with a triangle armlock type move. Kidman went to the ropes once more for the break. A good old kick to the gut slowed Smith down but he fired back at Kidman with heabutts and European forearms. But Kidman slid off Smith’s back when he felt the running powerslam and hit Smith with a backcracker. This move slowed Smith’s offense to a grinding halt as Kidman went to work on the back and neck with rope chokes and surf board like submission hold. Smith powered to his feet rolling into a pin but when Kidman felt the Sharpshooter coming he raked Smith’s eyes. Kidman went refocused on the injured back by dragging Smith to a corner and driving the back into the ringpost. Kidman went for a submission with a modified Indian Deathlock, driving his knee into Smith’s lower back. Kidman switched to a chinlock but Smith got to his feet only to be sent back down with a hand full of hair. Kidman went back to the chinlock and Smith got to his feet again but ran into a boot. Kidman went up but when he came off Smith hit a powerslam but was unable to make the cover. Both men struggled to their feet but it was Smith who hit two dropkicks and a backdrop for two as Keith Walker made his way to way to ringside and took the FCW title belt. Smith went for a power bomb but Kidman countered into a facebuster. But Walker cost Kidman the belt when he tried to enter the ring and attack Smith, the referee cut him off. As Kidman went to grab the referee Smith grabbed Kidman and got the small package pinfall win.
