Update on WWE Title Situation

Archive

According to Bryan Alvarez, a “meeting is scheduled for Thursday to discuss the [WWE Title] matter.” Vince is apparently very high on Randy Orton as the hottest heel in the company, and WWE.com is pushing Cena’s injury as something Orton was responsible for.

In his latest newsletter (dated October 9, but which seems to have been published prior to the above update), Alvarez thinks that most likely Kennedy will get a title shot due to being in the match that injured Cena. Kennedy vs. HHH as part of the illegitimate McMahon storyline was originally scheduled for Wrestlemania before Kennedy’s suspension, so who knows?

The pec tear, which Alvarez says will keep Cena off of Wrestlemania and out “eight months to a full year” (as opposed to the “six to eight months” estimate we’ve been seeing reported), is the first major muscle injury and first muscle tear for Cena.

Whoever gets the title is probably going to get hurt anyway. As Alvarez writes, over the past year or so, championship runs were cut short due to injuries to Batista, Undertaker and Edge, RVD’s arrest and now Cena. Let’s also not forget Kennedy’s injury that ended up costing him his Money in the Bank (not to mention recently-injured former world champs HHH, Booker, Rey, Bradshaw and so on). We wish the best for whoever comes out of Chicago with the belt on Sunday…
