Pulse Wrestling Ring of Honor Rankings: October 5, 2007

Columns, Features, Rankings

Here is the third installment of the Ring of Honor rankings as done by Pulse Wrestling. This will regularly appear on the first Friday of each month. This is the first time there are some pretty solid storyline reasons to rank the wrestlers as they are in addition to the won loss records.

Anyway, on with the Rankings

Singles Wrestlers

Ring of Honor World Champion – Takeshi Morishima

1. Nigel McGuinness – (NR)Nigel has jumped back to the top of the rankings because he has the next serious shot at the title at the third Pay per View taping.

2. Austin Aries – (1)The only reason that Aries falls is the immediate title shot of Nigel McGuinness. Aries is however about to begin a best two out of three series with American Dragon for the number one contender’s spot.

3. Kevin Steen – (4)Steen jumps up one spot because he has a title shot coming in Boston. He most likely won’t win, but his potential has only just been touched as a singles star.

4. “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson – (2)Dragon did fall this time around as predicted, but it was not due to his injury directly. He did lose twice in title shots, and now needs to re-prove himself against Austin Aries.

5. Roderick Strong – (3)Roderick Strong has not gotten the high profile singles wins to move up in the rankings. Thus he falls. He is still a contender though.

6. Erick Stevens – (7)Stevens moves up a spot due to his big win in the four corner survival match, but his loss to Takeshi Morishima keeps him from ascending any higher.

7. Jimmy Jacobs – (NR) Jacobs got a big win over Chris Hero in his first real test and has made some huge waves as the leader of the Age of the Fall.

8. Jack Evans – (5) Despite getting a win against Rocky Romero, Jack falls three spots mostly due to the outstanding showings by the other competitors.

9. Naomichi Marufuji – (NR) He defeated El Generico in Detroit and it seems he is building towards a title shot against Morishima down the line.

10. Claudio Castagnoli – (6) Double C continues to drop in the rankings as he has been on a bit of a losing streak lately. His previously strong showings keep him in the top ten.

Honorable Mentions: Rocky Romero, Delirious, Matt Cross

Tag Teams

Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions – Jay and Mark Briscoe

1. Brent Albright and BJ Whitmer – (NR) These two have been undefeated since forming a team. They are not in line for a title shot, but their win over Claudio and Nigel is most impressive.

2. Kevin Steen and El Generico – (2) They are out of the tag team title picture, but it is hard for me to believe that there are that many better teams in Ring of Honor than these two.

3. Austin Aries and Matt Cross – (1) These two fall off from the top spot after losing in their effort against the Briscoes.

4. The Age of the Fall – (NR) Jimmy Jacobs and the Necro Butcher or Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black seem to have designs on the RoH tag team championship. A tag team match win will almost certainly propel them to the top spot.

5. Jack Evans and Ruckus – (NR) This is another team ranked on potential, they could make huge waves in the tag team division, but odds are they will just focus on the stable wars.

Honorable Mentions: YRR, The No Remorse Corps
