Episode 2.04: The Kindness of Strangers
Airdate: October 15, 2007

Between shifts at a local fast food joint, Monica Dawson begins to exhibit some unexpected new abilities unbeknownst to her brother Damon (guest star Carlon Jeffery), grandmother Nana (guest star Nichelle Nichols), and cousin Michah.

Angela Petrelli makes a shocking confession as new information about the previous generation of Heroes is revealed. “Yes, the shocking confession. It’s about the murder. She is in the thick of it. She has a lot of secrets, and she’ll be doling them out,” reveals Cristine Rose, who plays Angela Petrelli.

With Molly’s “boogyman” continuing to turn her dreams into nightmares, Matt asks her to put aside her fears and locate him on a map with terrible results.

Suspecting Claire has a new boyfriend, H.R.G. fears for the future. Claire’s new boyfriend can fly, and for one particular romantic getaway he picks her up and carries her to the Hollywood sign atop Mt. Lee.

As they get closer to the U.S., Maya and Alejandro make a grim discovery on the road.

This episode will be set in New Orleans for part of it.

The Heroes creator has called upon Nichelle Nichols, aka USS Enterprise communications officer Lt. Uhura, to fill a short-term role. Nichols, an NBC rep tells TVGuide.com, will be playing Nana, the New Orleans-based grandmother of Monica, the new hero being played by The Nine‘s Dana Davis.

Showing up in the season’s fourth episode, Nichelle Nichols will play Nana, a New Orleans doyenne whose daughter died during Hurricane Katrina. “Nana is tough and undaunted and – like the blues – she just keeps rising to the occasion,” Nichols says. The character, who is in dire financial straits, has moved back into her once-flooded home, where she cares for her two grandchildren. One of them, new hero Monica (The Nine’s Dana Davis), is an avenging angel intent on bringing justice to the corruption-plagued Big Easy. Nana is also a great-aunt to Micah, the junior hero played by series regular Noah Gray-Cabey. “Micah is sent to New Orleans to live with the family,” Nichols says. “It’s a quite marvelous, magical story, with wonderful things emerging.”

Guest Cast: Randall Bentley, Ashley Crow, Barry Shabaka Henley and Jimmy Jean-Louis.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
