NFL Trade Deadline

A couple shots across the bow this mid-October week. As the always riveting NFL Trade Deadline passed.

San Diego sends a second round 2008 draft pick to the Miami Dolphins for veteran Wide Receiver Chris Chambers. Chambers gives the struggling, until the last two weeks, Chargers offense another weapon. The Dolphins who are going no where fast this year, will get a second round pick, which is the same round they drafted Chambers with in 2001. This will give young receivers Ted Ginn Jr. and Derek Hagan more playing time to develop.

Tampa Bay worked on its running game by getting Michael Bennett from the Kansas City Chiefs for two draft picks that depend on Bennett’s performance. Bennett was a former 1st round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2001. He made the pro bowl in 2002 after rushing for nearly 1300 yards. Bennett is the only player in the history of the league with a 60+ yard carry in 3 consecutive weeks. One of which, ironically enough, was against the Bucs.
