In a shocking turn of events, Joe Torre has decided to pass on a contract from the New York Yankees. The deal had a base salary of $5 mil for 1 year, with incentive that included $1 mil for each round of the playoffs won and an additional year if the team made the World Series.
Earlier this week, Don Mattingly announced he wasn’t ready to take over the manager position; this was most likely a ploy to get the Yankees to keep Torre.
