Preview: (United) Kingdom come?
October 19, 2007

SmackDown is heading closer toward Cyber Sunday, WWE’s interactive pay-per-view, and there are many questions to be answered as the Superstars face off in the United Kingdom Friday night.

While across the pond, the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista, will be interviewed by JBL, SmackDown’s color commentator and possible special guest referee for The Animal’s Cyber Sunday showdown with Undertaker. What does Batista have to say about his confrontation with The Phenom, the man who defeated him for the title at WrestleMania 23? And what will JBL have up his sleeve as he tries to win your votes to be named as the contest’s guest official?

As for Batista’s opponent, Undertaker will also be in the U.K. this Friday. After his actions on SmackDown last week – in which he disrupted a No. 1 Contender’s Match between Rey Mysterio and Finlay – he made it clear to The Animal that the gold is his target. What does The Deadman have in store while overseas? Will he have any say about your choices for Cyber Sunday’s special guest referee?

While the U.K. ventured into the Land of the Extreme last Tuesday, so did several SmackDown Superstars. Kane and Jesse & Festus were very special guests on ECW on Sci Fi, courtesy a new working agreement between brand General Managers Vickie Guerrero and Armando Estrada. The Big Red Monster partnered with CM Punk in defeating all three of the ECW World Champion’s prospective Cyber Sunday opponents — Big Daddy V, John Morrison and The Miz — while Jesse & Festus dealt some country-style comeuppance to Elijah Burke & Nunzio. Is there a possibility that Estrada will return the favor and send over some ECW talent to visit SmackDown this Friday night?

For the first time ever, the high-flying Rey Mysterio steps into the ring to face the United States Champion and one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, MVP. Both the Master of the 619 and the Ballin’ Superstar have matches at Cyber Sunday, though their respective opponents – Finlay and Matt Hardy – are also squaring off on SmackDown. But will these Superstars make the mistake of looking beyond this Friday night? For Cyber Sunday, it’s up to you to vote on the stipulation for the Irishman’s confrontation with Mysterio (a Stretcher Match, Shillelagh on a Pole Match or No Disqualification), as well as placing Matt and MVP in a Boxing Match, Wrestling Match or Mixed Martial Arts Match.

With all this in mind as Cyber Sunday rapidly approaches, what will happen when the Superstars of Friday Night SmackDown clash in the United Kingdom?

Tune into SmackDown Friday night at 8/7 CT on The CW Network to see for yourself.
