The SmackDown Report

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

I know, I know. I’m late. The truth is I forgot all about posting this. I’m allowed to with my work and class schedule this week. My first official full week of work and they throw me two 5-9 am shifts and a 3-Midnight shift the following day. Throw in some assignments and I do not look forward to this week. So yes, that has gotten me down. But, enough of my excuses, I’m sorry for the lateness.

Opening pyros, welcome by Michael Cole, and THEN we head to a recap of Finlay / Mysterio from last week. It’s a bit hard to take the video seriously with that Michael Jackson poster in the background. Batista will defend against Undertaker at Cyber Sunday, by the way. And JBL will also interview Batista tonight too.

And we have better than usual UK TV Taping production quality tonight too. Was the quality this good as their Milan show?

Another not bad match. Four out of Ten. I’d really enjoy Masters being paired up with Dykstra. Maybe Victoria could start her own faction or something? I don’t know.

Backstage, Porter says that over the past couple of weeks, Hardy has grown on him. Porter says they’ve become friends and an actual team. Porter says that they have to remain focussed on the Tag Team Championships. Hardy reminds us of the Cyber Sunday match between them two. Major returns to the ring and gets hit with an STO by Intyre, which gives Intyre the victory.
Winner: Drew McIntyre

I like McIntyre, but he needs a match against either Hardy or Finlay just so we know what he’s capable of. I’d even like to see Taylor and McIntyre vs. Hardy and Porter. Four out of Ten. My attractive man bias more than likely had something to do with that, however, so take that into account.

Recap of the great Batista and Undertaker rivalry. That should also be a good match.

-Five out of Ten. At least Noble’s still on television. The fans fucking bolted to the ringside area just to see the three count, how odd is that? For a squash!

Still to come, apparently for the first time ever, Rey Mysterio vs. Montel Vontavious Porter.

An all around good showing this week, actually. Nothing was bad, really. The Porter / Hardy storyline stole the show tonight, as usual. Sadly, the only ECW to be seen anywhere on tonight’s show as in the form of Big Daddy V and Matt Striker. I hope they use this time to make some much needed roster trades between ECW and SmackDown, or at least trade the Mahoney / Miz and Porter / Hardy feuds temporarily. Porter and Hardy could be seen as ‘THE’ feud for that show, while Mahoney and Miz could get an interesting twist (such as Miz getting more women in his corner, Layfield trashing them both) and more exposure. Even if this is just a way to get more ratings for ECW, the fact is that it could become quite the good storyline tool Yes, I notice how this has nothing to do with my overall thought on this week’s episode, but I covered that in the first two sentences Until next week, have a good time!
