Paulie's Power Poll – Week 7

We’re back in the swing of things this week. Some pretty good shakeups in the middle of the top 10 but once again the top and the bottom remain pretty much the same. Some pretty big things on the injury front this week, though could have major effects on teams going forward.

1. New England Patriots (7-0) – Randy Moss hasn’t had this much fun since he had a man named Cunningham playing pitch and catch with him week after week. If it wasn’t for that pesky Wes Welker kid, we may be talking about a receiver breaking the single season TD record this year.Last week: #1

2. Indianapolis Colts (6-0) – Only two weeks until we find out who the king of the mountain really is. Manning and his receivers should tear Carolina’s poor secondary to shreds this weekend.Last Week: #2

3. Dallas Cowboys (6-1)- A couple of chinks in the armor are starting to show up. They’ve got to get that early season intensity back and not let that loss to the Pats eat at them or else they’re gonna get caught by…Last Week: #3

4. New York Giants (5-2) – They’ve won 5 in a row now and aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. If they can avoid another second half collapse this season, they’ll challenge the Cowboys for the NFC crown.Last Week: #8

5. Green Bay Packers (5-1) – GO BYE WEEK GO!Last Week: #4

6. Tennessee Titans (4-2) –Vince Young is ailing and only a record setting day by the kicker saved them from the mighty Sage Rosenfels led Texans team. They’re going to have to figure out how to get the ball in the end zone or they’re going to drop like a stone. Last Week: #10

7. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) – Anybody have a QB they want hurt? I’ll start em on my NFL fantasy team, that seems to do the trick most weeks. Last Week: #5

8. San Diego Chargers (3-3)-They’ve got a banged up Texans team coming to town this week. But they have to keep doing what works and not let up on a depleted team. Oh and… GO BYE WEEK GO! Last Week: #11

9. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) – There is no way they should have lost to that Denver team. How Willie Parker didn’t have 200 yards is beyond me.Last Week: #4

10. Washington Redskins (4-2) – Just by the hair of their chinny chin chins. The defense saved them this week with timely turnovers and a score. A piss poor offense isn’t going to cut it in the NFC East this season.Last Week: #14

11. Carolina Panthers (4-2) – They sit atop the NFC South at the moment but have the Colts coming to town this week. Unless they got all new safeties, I don’t see them winning this game. But they’ll still be on top because Tampa is going down to a pissed off Jags team even if Quinn Gray has to do it. Last Week: #13

12. Kansas City Chiefs (4-3) – They did what they had to do to get passed Oakland. How long can this unlikely run of mild success last? Last Week: #15

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3) – Somehow found a way to lose despite having over 400 yards of offense and out-gaining the Lions by 150 yards. These are the games the Bucs cannot afford to lose.Last Week: #7

14. Detroit Lions (4-2) – John Kitna only threw the ball 20 times last week. Is Mike Martz still the coordinator up there?Last Week: #18

15. Baltimore Ravens (4-3) – The defense won’t be able to sustain them every game. The passing game has GOT to come alive at some point. Last Week: #9

16. Seattle Seahawks (4-3) – Don’t get too happy Seahawks fans. Remember, this big win was against the Rams.Last Week: #16

17. Houston Texans (3-4) – Johnson is out until possibly after the bye week. Schaub is ailing now. And Ahman Green just got back to running the ball. Yet somehow they find ways to stay competitive. If this team could just get healthy, they’d be a legitimate threat. Last Week: #12

18. Cleveland Browns (3-3) – GO BYE WEEK GO! Last Week: #20

19. Denver Broncos (3-3) – Found a way to beat Pittsburgh. Can Cutler continue to play that way? Or will he regress back to early season form?Last Week: #21

20. Arizona Cardinals (3-4) – Warner played with a bionic elbow, threw two INTS (One for a touchdown and one in the end zone) and they still came two feet wide from winning this game. But, Whizzy, dude, when the game is on the line, it is NOT the time to go getting overly creative and put your best wide out at QB.Last Week: #17

21. New Orleans Saints (2-4) – What’s this? A winning streak? And San Francisco this week? This team has finally started living right.Last Week: #26

22. Chicago Bears (3-4) – OK, so Griese gets another go at it. But they’re still just too up and down to be viewed as a real threat yet.Last Week: #25

23. Buffalo Bills (2-4) – It seems they’ve finally found their QB in Edwards. You can just tell by the way the team plays around him that it was the right choice.Last Week: #28

24. Philadelphia Eagles (2-4) – There is absolutely no reason for them to give up a 97 yard drive to the Bears. That’s just sloppy defense right there. Last Week: #19

25. Oakland Raiders (2-4) – We can has Russell now? Last Week: #23

26. Minnesota Vikings (2-5) – The team plays hard but they just don’t have the talent to win on a weekly basis. They have the building blocks, but the coaching and the passing game need way too much work. Last Week: #24

27. Cincinnati Bengals (2-5) – Hey, they won. Yeah, they beat the Jets. And beat them ugly at that. This unfortunate circumstance means they drop 5 spots to where they should have been all along. Last Week: #22

28. San Francisco 49ers (2-4) – Well, the season sure started off pretty promising.Last Week: #27

29. Atlanta Falcons (1-6) – Hey look! Harrington’s back! Last Week: #29

30New York Jets (1-6) – Pennington showed some life against a morose Bengals’ Defense. They still lost. Clemens needs to start now. The season is gone. See what the kid can do. Last Week: #30

30. Miami Dolphins (0-7) – And now they’ve lost their one bright spot on the roster. But as long as they keep showing heart and actually scoring, they’ll be better than the Rams. Last Week: #31

32. St. Louis Rams (0-7) – Bulger is feeling better and Jackson may be back this week. So they might actually score a touchdown or two against Cleveland. But they still have no offensive line, so they’re still going to lose. Last Week: #32

That’s it for this week. Agree with me? Think I’m an idiot? Want to call me names? Go here in the forums and we can discuss it.
