Random Reality: Josh Clinton Interviews Beauty and the Geek's Erin Schneider and Jesse Yeary

Features, Interviews, Shows

Last week, Jesse and Erin were the fifth team to get sent home from Beauty and the Geek. I had the chance to talk to them both the other day about everything that happened to them on the show. Here is what they had to say…

Josh Clinton: Hey guys.

Jesse Yeary: Hey. How are you?

Erin Schneider: Hey.

JC: I’m doing good. How are you?

JY: Great.

ES: I’m doing good.

JC: Great. This first question is for both of you. What were your first thoughts of each other when you first met each other on the show?

JY: When I first met Erin I thought she was really beautiful and also really nice. She was probably one of the sweetest people that I have ever met.

ES: I thought that he needed to change his outfit first (Laughs).

JY: (Laughs).

ES: But I also liked how everyone was trying to talk over each other and it was getting really loud and he was just chillin’ in the back so I went over there and talked to him. He was actually pretty cool and interesting. I knew that I wanted him as my geek.

JC: Right. So after getting to know each other for all of these weeks, was there anything that surprised you about the other?

JY: One of the things that surprised me about Erin was how intelligent she was. You would think that she was this stereotypical beauty, but then she comes into the challenges and reads all of the material and picks it all up so quick. Like politics, all kinds of medical information for the anatomy challenge. She did really well.

ES: Except for the earlobe (Laughs).

JY: (Laughs).

ES: What I was surprised about Jesse was how smart he was. I didn’t know the geeks were that smart. He was really really smart. Like he just knew all of this stuff and I was like “oh my god, where do you fit all of that?”

JC: Yeah. So lets talk a little bit about Sam and Nicole. Do you think it was fair to have them on the show with them being the first male beauty and female geek?

ES: I don’t think it was fair to have them there. It definitely threw Beauty and the Geek into a 180 or a 360 or whatever that is. I don’t know, it just wasn’t traditional.

JY: I thought it was definitely difficult. Like Sam seemed to be so dominant in all of the challenges and it was tough to watch him go and stomp all the other geeks in challenge after challenge.

JC: Right, and then Nicole she had more experience sewing in the last geek challenge than the other male geeks did.

JY: Yeah, she had a pretty good edge on the costume making there definitely. Some of the guy geeks had never even seen a sewing machine before and definitely didn’t know how to use it.

ES: She didn’t really sew anything, though. What did she sew?

JY: Yeah, she ended up just having a pair of shorts and glued stuff to them.

ES: Yeah, she really wasn’t anything in that challenge.

JC: That’s true. What did you guys think of the Sam and Rebecca relationship? Did you mind it at all or did you not care?

ES: I didn’t mind it, but I think it definitely got in the way of the purpose of the show. You are supposed to be interacting with people that you usually wouldn’t hang out with, and here are these two beauties that you would probably see together out in the clubs all the time and they were spending all of their time with each other. I thought that was just not right. It was their own personal business, but…

JY: I would say that it was fine that they liked each other and wanted to pursue a relationship, but definitely spending so much time together stifled their growth early on. That was the exact type of people they would typically date back home and everything.

JC: Exactly. So Erin what did you think of Jesse’s makeover from the previous week?

ES: I thought his makeover was perfect and I never would have thought of making him platinum. I was completely surprised. He actually kinda looked like David Beckham. I was like “whoa, you look good boy” (Laughs).

JC: Right. Who do you think had the best makeover?

ES: Well obviously I’m going to chose my geek and say he looked the best because I know him really well, so it’s not just the outside appearance. But I think John’s makeover was really really good. He looked really good.

JC: Yeah. This past week’s challenge was like the essence of the show. You had hot girls mixed with geeky comic books. What were you thoughts on that challenge?

ES: I had a lot of fun doing it. It was so much fun, because the beauties finally got to use their creativity. We had been studying for the longest time for all of the other challenges. So I was really excited about it.

JY: Yeah, I thought that the comic book challenge was really a lot of fun. It definitely was really tough for the geeks making the costumes, because we spent hours just cutting out fabric and another three or four hours trying to use the sewing machine. So that was tough, but it was a lot of fun and I think Erin did a great job coming up with the story for her comic book character.

ES: Aw, thanks!

JC: So Erin what was the inspiration for your comic book character, her costume, and all of that?

JY: The inspiration for Aqualita Splash came from my own personality and my entire life. I really like the beach and palm trees and the ocean. So she evolved from all of my interests, and I think she came out pretty cool.

JC: Yeah, she did. Your costume was really the one that showed the most skin out of all of the costumes…

ES: (Laughs).

JC: Were you surprised that the judges weren’t swayed by that in their decision?

ES: I don’t know what the judges were thinking. I loved my costume and it actually did show a lot of skin, but I don’t usually show a lot of skin. So it was actually kinda fun (Laughs). And I think Jesse did a great job with the whole costume. The judges did say, though, that my costume was the most well put together.

JC: Yeah, so that was weird that they didn’t pick you as the winner. But Jesse, how excited were you to go to Comic-Con?

JY: I was thrilled when I found out we were going to Comic-Con. I had never been before and as soon as they said “you’re going to Comic-Con” I was like “oh yes!” That was a dream come true. When I got there, it was like everything I had imagined. There were comic books from floor to ceiling, people dressed up in character, and everything else. It was neat.

JC: Right. So Erin do you think you will get into comic books more now?

ES: Um, I am not going to diss them or anything. But I’m not a big reader. I kinda like my celebrity magazines and looking at the pictures. But definitely if a comic book came in my path I would pick it up, look through it, and maybe read it (Laughs).

JC: Yeah. So tell me both, how did your friendship with Natalie and John come about?

ES: It’s kinda hard to see on the show, but where me and Jesse’s bedroom was it was connected by a bathroom with John and Natalie’s bedroom. We had like our hallway as well. So it was like our own two-bedroom apartment. We got ready in the mornings together, since we only had one bathroom. We were always together and ended up clicking very well with each other.

JY: Yeah, all of the time that we spent with each other definitely helped develop our friendship, but I kinda think it started forming before like that first night before we were even in the mansion. I mean the people I probably talked to the most were John, Erin, and Natalie.

JC: That’s cool. Was there anyone that you really didn’t get along with on the show?

ES: Um, I mean Sam and Nicole were kinda like off in their own little world and Nicole didn’t really talk to me that much. I kinda felt like she gave me the cold shoulder a little bit. But as far as not getting along with anybody, no. I got along with everyone.

JY: I thought that most of the contestants got along quite well. I mean everyone was friends there. Like I had a ton of fun hanging out with all of them.

JC: That’s good. Jesse, I have to ask you this question. Besides Erin, who was the hottest beauty in the house?

JY: Besides Erin…

JC: Or give me a couple of them if you can’t name just one.

ES: (Laughs).

JY: I would say probably the three prettiest girls in the house were Erin, Hollie, and Natalie. They also all have really great personalities to go along with their beauty.

JC: Right. What are you plans now?

JY: My plans now are to go back to being a software engineer. I really like that kind of work and it’s really interesting to do. Also, I would like to hang out with my friends more and go out on weekends and do all of things I didn’t do before I went on the show.

ES: I would like to move to California. It has been a dream of mine for the past couple of years. Then, maybe do movie star hair or take up an acting career or possibly sing. Something, I’m not sure yet. But I have time, I’m young.

JC: Alright, Very cool. Well thanks for your time and good luck with everything.

JY: Thanks.

ES: Awesome. Thank you.
