This is what we like to call a “filler” episode. Nothing of substance happens this week really. Izzie and Cristina still fight at work. Meredith still deals with her issues as Derek grows tired of dealing with Meredith dealing with her issues. George continues to get disrespected as a “repeat intern”. George and Izzie get deeper into their “relationship”. Odd crying occurs and the “love heptagon” gets even more juicier. Okay, maybe that was something but still not a total shock.
Meredith has abandonment issues that she has to deal with if she wants to be with Derek. He won’t be waiting forever. But she has to deal with her father, mother, sister, and her almost dying. So just normal girl stuff. Ultimately nothing is really solved with this storyline during this episode. But basically Meredith feels safe with Derek and is not ready to give that up. She may have to give it up when Derek finally has enough, though.
Izzie and Cristina continue to clash at work. Izzie thinks it’s personal, but Cristina just wants to be head of the heart surgery department in the hospital. Izzie steps in and takes over a major heart surgery that Cristina wanted to do.
For some reason, Mark and Callie team up to try and embarrass George at work. They make him hold a dress. That’s not embarrassing at all actually, but Callie, Mark, and Alex find this hilarious. Just don’t get it. Apparently it’s part of “intern hazing”, but other than standing there hanging on to a dress that some other woman has a hold of as well for hours and hours, what’s the big deal?
Dr. Hahn confronts Richard. Apparently she believes since she is not a male attending, she doesn’t get the same respect from him as they do. The reason for that is because Richard is friends with all the guys. Richard invites all the guys meaning Derek and Mark for a “gentleman’s evening”. That means no girls, except for Dr. Hahn who is just one of the guys as they end up playing monopoly in the woods.
George and Izzie appear to be ready to have sex for the first time tonight. At least the first time as a real couple. But Izzie is just too tired and instead of telling George that at first she resorts to ridiculous uncontrollable crying. Kinda reminded of me when George had sex with Meredith and she started crying in the middle of it. Not a good thing at all. Izzie just wants to sleep and finally tells George that. George looks freaked, but they just go to bed. Still that crying was odd from Izzie.
Now out of absolutely nowhere (at least in this episode), Lexie asks Alex out. She asks what he is doing after work? Alex says he is not a relationship guy. Lexie is too nice. He will only have a sex with her and that’s it. Then, he walks away. Well that was nice of him to tell her the truth. Probably make her like him even more, but we need to make things more complicated. And look at that, I was right before we even ended this episode. Meredith walks in on Alex and Lexie laughing after apparently have sex. So Lexie likes bad boy. Heck, what girls doesn’t? What a tangled web we weave!
