Episode 2.08: Four Months Ago
Airdate: November 12, 2007

When the clock turns back four months for all of the Heroes, Nathan pays a terrible cost for his heroic actions. While Peter survives his detonation over New York City, the Company “bags” him as a threat to the world, eventually leading to violent confrontation with Elle and the Haitian. D.L. makes the ultimate sacrifice for Niki and Micah. Maya horrifically manifests her dark powers for the first time, driving her and Alejandro to America for help.

There are a lot of mysteries on Heroes, but some big ones will be solved in this episode. That’s when we finally see what happened after Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) flew up in the sky and went nuclear in last May’s season finale. “We find out how they both survived the explosion,” says co-executive producer Jeph Loab. “We also learn how Peter wound up half-naked with amnesia in a box in Ireland and why Nathan — who keeps seeing his post-radiation monster face in the mirror — now looks normal.” Will the boozing, guilt-racked Natahn, who has abandoned his hopes for the White House, ever get his act together? “He’s been through the proverbial fire and paid a terrible price, but this could strenghten his political backbone,” Pasdar says. “When all the plot pieces come together, I think there will be empathy for Nathan.” Also revealed in that flashback hour: How D.L. (Leonard Roberts) actually died — turns out he wasn’t killed by Linderman’s bullet — and why Niki (Ali Larter) really made that call to the Company asking for a cure. “We’ve been led to believe she has the virus,” Kring notes, “but we also raise a question about her multiple-personality disorder. Will it return in the form of another personality?” Plus viewers will witness the horrific mass slaughter at a wedding — filmed with 120 extras — that forced twins Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) to go on the lam.

Elle and Peter kiss. We also learn that D.L. did not die when we thought he did but rather indirectly at the hands of Niki’s new alter ego: a naughty school girl.

In episode 8, which flashes back four months, just wait till you see how sadistic our darling Kristen Bell can be as she gleefully zaps and zings Peter. Oh, and FYI, their lips might kinda sorta meet. […] You know that creeptastic burned dude Mr. Petrelli keeps seeing in the mirror? Sources confirm to me that’s most definitely Nathan just a few months back, and the reason he looks so good is that […] there’s a cool new “cure” of sorts that could do a whole lotta people some good-including Nathan and, I don’t know, perhaps Isaac and D.L. and Simone and Daddy Suresh, to name a few.

Addressing the matter of Matt Parkman’s apparent life upheaval since the Season 1 finale, [Tim] Kring says, “There is clearly a mystery now – but there won’t be in the next couple of episodes – as to what happened in the four months that passed. Clearly he went from a man whose wife was pregnant and who was living in L.A. to a man who’s living in New York and no longer with his wife. Something happened in that intervening time – and we will find out about it.”

James Kyson Lee expects Ando and Hiro to reunite and begin a new adventure in season two’s eighth episode. In episode eight, fans will find out what happened “Four Months Ago.” […] “For the returning fans, episode eight fills in the gaps,” said [co-executive producer and writer] Loeb. “Hopefully, by that time, everyone will be into this mystery. When we get to the middle of November, everyone will be completely filled in and we’ll move forward.”

Guest Cast: Carlon Jeffery, Nichelle Nichols and Stephen Tobolowsky.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
