L.A. REHAB FACILITY NOT AMUSED BY IRONIC QOTSA SONG SELECTION

Insider

Rockers Queens of the Stone Age were cut short during what was intended to be “an intimate six-song set” at an undisclosed Los Angeles-area substance-abuse rehabilitation center, and were promptly ejected from the premises by security, after organizers and staff failed to find the humor in their choice for the set’s opening song.

They opened the set, which was played to a small crowd of patients, their family and the facility’s staff, with “Feel Good Hit of the Summer”, from their 2000 album, Rated R. The plug was quickly pulled by staff after they heard the lyrics, which include: “Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol… c-c-c-c-c-cocaine.” The band was subsequently “manhandled” by security and tossed.

Hilarity! Like him or hate him, one can always count on Josh Homme for this kind of tomfoolery.

While the song has become something of a fan favorite over the years, and the band often opens with it during their live performances, they themselves consider it to be a complete joke of a track. So that’s why it was featured in Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
