Captain's Log: Kid Nation – Episode 10

Shows

A recap of last week shows some of the new teams accepting new members and there is almost a mutiny on the Town Council. Elections were about to be held again in Bonanza City before we got a “to be continued” cliffhanger.

The Boys Are Back In Town.

Zach and Blaine are told to give their speeches right off the bat for control of Green. Guylan stood up and asked Red to vote him off the Town Council which means that DK immediately is put into his place. Laurel from Yellow loves her position but Michael wants to see how a new leader would fare. Anjay is asking for a second chance, but wouldn’t this be like a fifth chance? Needless to say, Greg wants to represent Blue and says that things wouldn’t be so bad if he was in charge.

VOTING TIME!

Green: Michael beat out Laurel by a vote of 6 – 3
Blue: Greg beat out Anjay by a vote of 7 – 2
Red: DK is already in charge
Yellow: Blaine beat out Zach by a vote of 5 – 4

A brand new Town Council is in the big house. Discussion goes on around town about how Blaine and Greg ended up on the Council at the same time. With no more power, Zach contemplates going home with less then two weeks left because he misses his family.

The Town Council is looking to call a town meeting in order to get more respect in Bonanza City. The great book was not there for them to look at which was just weird. Everyone meets in the saloon and the Council looks to take control of everything and have everyone respect one another. The Council wanted to talk a bit about things and said if anyone talked or made a sound, then they’d start all over.

Needless to say…the quiet game didn’t work and the Council ended up severely frustrated.

Greg and Blaine are now heading all over town eavesdropping on conversations, especially that of the Green team. Green is discussing that their two new leaders never deserved the gold stars because they were acting very mean and childish. The residents want compliments so the Council decided to hurl insults. Words were spewed back and forth, Laurel got upset and Sophia got pissed.

Greg even said no-one may get the gold star this week. Sophia considered the Council on the same level as the Nazis. Again, these kids are much smarter then me.

After a sit down meeting, differences were resolved and they turned to a bigger issue…Taylor. Since she never worked, they decided she shouldn’t deserve to partake in the reward if they are to win it. Taylor again says she’ll go home. Once again, please do.

SHOWDOWN!

This week it was all about communication and having to work together. Pies needed to be transported by each team with every member of the team needing to work together. After pies were delivered successfully to the team leaders, the leaders would look through the pies for communication inventions and then match them up.

Seemed like a really quick showdown without much difficulty from anyone. Blue finished first to get upper class, Green ended up as the merchant class, Yellow are the cooks, and Red is the labor class. It all came down to Red finishing quick enough for the town reward and for the first time in three weeks, they got it.

The first reward shown were ponies that could be ridden for fun and used to help haul water. The second reward is of course always tough to give up and they were letters from home. After a little deliberation, the Council announced that it would be the letters they wanted. Taylor was not given one at first during the original pass-around, but Greg made her promise to work harder and therefore she would receive her letter.

Laurel still wants to go home since she has no power in Bonanza City. I have liked Laurel the whole season so far, but now she just seems like a big whiner.

Town hall meeting time and the kids look split down the middle as to if they think the Council is doing a good job. Most of the complaints are of course about Greg’s attitude and he says he’ll work to change it. And then it’s time to send someone home and after many threats…no-one left. Good for them.

Oh great…maybe now she can stop whining as Laurel is awarded the gold star. She calls home and is so very happy. Thanks all around to all the members of the Council and hugs for Greg. Hmmmm!

This is your Captain speaking folks, and I’ll see you next week as the brawl continues.
