Universal Home Entertainment has some early details regarding a new extended edition of American Gangster which stars Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. In this version the film will contain 20 minutes of additional footage, bringing the runtime to 2 hours 56 minutes. There will be two versions available on DVD: a two-disc set that will retail at around $29.98 and a 3-disc collector’s edition (retail price not yet available). A HD DVD/DVD Combo release will also be available for $39.98 with additional web enabled features. The street date has yet to be confirmed, but expect it sometime in February. In addition to the multi-platform release of American Gangster, Universal will also be releasing Gangsters: The Ultimate Collection, which features Gangster as well as Scarface, Casino and Carlito’s Way.
